Getting to Hydra

You will arrive at Athens International airport Eleftherios Venizelos, and from here you will travel to Hydra Island by taking a boat from the city’s main Port Piraeus. Make sure that when you book your flight and boat tickets, that you leave plenty of time (about 3 hours) for the journey from the airport to the port, as well as clearing immigration, baggage claim, and customs.

You have a choice of transport from the airport to Piraeus port:

Bus: The X96 bus stop is located outside exit 5 (turn right as you exit customs and enter the arrivals area. Tickets must be bought in advance at the small kiosk just in front of the bus stop. The bus leaves every half hour, 23 hours per day, and stops several times on the way. Piraeus is the last stop and should take around 1.5 hours (less during off-peak hours). Upon arrival at Piraeus, cross the busy street and go to Gate E8.
